Here at Cardamom Events Ibiza, we are big fans of the Urban Soul Orchestra (USO) – a contemporary and versatile string ensemble with a unique twist, incorporating percussion, bass, DJ & vocals. By enriching a classic string set-up with soulful arrangements and funky rhythms, they create a fresh modern sound. USO’s elegant musicians are comprised of celebrated professional musicians, vocalists and DJs of international acclaim.

USO provide various styles of entertainment offering the complete soundtrack to any corporate or private event, from chilled background music during drinks or dinner, to a roof-raising full band to stir up the dance floor. The band can be adapted for all parts of the show in just one booking.

USO has worked for 25 years at the top of the UK music industry, collaborating with an impressive range of artists including Groove Armada, Mick Jagger, Annie Lennox, Take That, Keane, The Script, Grace Jones, Octave One, Ella Erye, and Jess Glynn. Every summer USO perform a series of Classic Ibiza concerts across the UK in association with Ministry Of Sound. The orchestra plays a collection of classic Ibiza anthems arranged for a 32 piece Orchestra with live DJ and internationally renowned vocalists at some of the most beautiful stately homes in the UK. USO’s ensembles include the Chill Out Set, DJ Live, DJ Sets, Electric String Quartet, Acoustic Ensemble, Jazz Band, String Quartet, Little Big Band, Little Swing Band, Show Band, Swing Band, Twin Violins. Mimi’s 3rd Birthday Party by Cardamom Events

 

Mimi’s 3rd birthday has become quite the way to begin the year for the Cardamom Events family. This year was no different with the design brief being that it should be non-stressful for adults and maximum fun for kids! Believe it or not, kids’ parties in Ibiza can be quite challenging as they are usually big family affairs…

The event took place at Can Xarc, a Spanish family restaurant on the beach. The menu was vegetarian, fun and healthy.

The highlights for the kids were the bouncy castle, a game of pass the parcel, some eco-friendly party bags and, of course, the cutting of the Frozen cake!

The parents were able to relax too with tapas and wine, knowing that the children were in a safe and comfortable place.

 

All in all a successful afternoon!

Here at Cardamom Events Ibiza, we are constantly looking for fresh and inventive ideas to make your special occasion more personal and unique.

We have recently come across the fantastic work of artist Marta Fofi who designs and creates these bold and colourful prints which she adapts as invitations, menus, cards and more!

Marta is an Italian artist and designer who lives in a farmhouse in Ibiza. Her love for the island and her connection to it is evident in her work. She describes her style as ‘Mediterranean Pop’ which we just adore!

Los Fermentistas – committed to making live cultured fermented food and drinks!

Los Fermentistas are Cardamom’s new neighbours! Recently homed in our office’s kitchens, Los Fermentistas are a husband and wife partnership who were looking to regain control of their health and happiness.

Jakob and Rebeca Hronek began their fermentation journey in 2012 after noticing their physical reaction to ‘live’ sauerkraut. They have since been committed to the revival of this old technique, how it can be utilised in the modern world, ways to make it more accessible, if not trendy in an age where there has been a huge reliance on antibiotics, and where bacteria are demonised rather than understood and honored for their roles.

Bex – The first time I tried a live fermented product was Sauerkraut, on a camping trip with friends in Germany, I felt an instant bodily reaction, like this was something my body had been waiting for, it was amazing!

Curiosity piqued, I dove in and got my first ever scoby for Kombucha and began to make a very basic version of Kimchi.

I hadn’t realised just how much impact ferments would have on my health, my digestive system began to function properly and the acne I had become accustomed to cleared up.

Jakob being an avid chef and a scientist by nature took things to the next level and the experiments diversified, we began to make more varieties of kimchi, and sauerkraut and Jun were added to the repertoire.

Through much trial and error, orange walls and purple splashed ceilings we began to perfect our recipes. Jars of pickles filled the shelves, pots of Sauerkraut and Kimchi bubbled, and bottles of Kombucha and Jun fizzed.

What is it we do exactly?

We are micro microbe farmers and avid fermentation revivalists.

We make a range of products, in the Cardamom kitchens, which we sell every Saturday at Ibiza’s only local farmers markets, offering free degustations and information about the benefits of fermented products, the chance to try before you buy!

On our standard menu you’ll find:

– Classic Sauerkraut, our very own Superkraut ( made with Hijiki and Wakame seaweed, turmeric and kale, pretty super huh?!)

– A range of Kimchi’s; Classic, Butternut squash, daikon and vegan.

– Our drinks are Kombucha (black tea with rose) and Jun (gunpowder jasmine green tea fermented with honey).

The foods are probiotic and the drinks prebiotic, all teeming with beneficial bacterias to help balance your gut. This is our standard, but we often have visiting jars from our experimental kitchen.

We love doing pop up dinners ‘Love Your Guts’ often in collaboration with chefs whose food we love, where ferments and their culinary uses are shown in all their glory,

We offer a ’Fermentale’ bar, where ferments and live vinegar shrubs are combined to make delicious virgin and non-virgin cocktails.

Where can you find us?

Our products can currently be found in Savia in Ibiza Town and Polen in Santa Eularia, and other shops throughout the island.

Every Saturday with good weather you’ll find us just opposite Can Tixedo Art cafe at the Mercat de Forada, it’s the best place to get your seasonal, affordable organic veggies!

We work frequently in collaboration with other chefs like James Canvin Knight (gastro pub chef) and Boris Buono, and are happy to receive frequent invites to educate about fermentation and present our products.

CARDAMOM RECOMMENDS: A new island gem has arrived…

Ibiza in mid summer can often feel chaotic – the island is full, the temperatures are scorching and everyone inhabiting the island for work or pleasure always has a packed agenda, meaning finding somewhere with a feeling a serenity can often be a real challenge. Alas, when a new venture opens which offers a tranquil environment, beautiful decor, a tasty (and different) menu, plus a fully managed children’s area…we get pretty excited.

 

Last night Cardamom visited the new Lamuella Ibiza (previously Aura and Sacca), which is easily accessible off the upgraded San Juan road (travelling towards the north of Ibiza) – and an absolute delight from start to finish. The venue is generously spaced out, has an outdoor/indoor feeling with it’s tented roof and had a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. The concept is a “holistic lifestyle experience” combining healthy fusion Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine with art, entertainment and what they call a “unique experience for the soul”. As previous owners of an Asian food venue in Ibiza with a busy lifestyle and family on tow, this concept ran close to our hearts, and we simply can’t wait to go back.

Canapés. Usually used as part of an event opening, good canapés play a large factor in an event kicking off well. From supporting the events theme or concept, to being an aspect of focus for guests who need a conversation starter, to keeping hungry stomachs at bay ahead of the main food service, canapés really are an important factor to consider.
